Baptisms

Ideally, in the case of baptisms, please give two months notice.

Baptisms are celebrated on the second and fourth Saturday of the month at 12.30pm and occasionally on the first Sunday of the month during 11.15am Mass. Please see below for information about baptism and baptismal preparation.

Having your child baptised

Picture
Prior to the baptism of your child you will be required to attend a short course which is designed to prepare parents bringing their children to be baptised and follows the Rite of Baptism. It explains the words, symbols, questions and actions that have been passed down to us in this great sacrament from the earliest days of the Church. It will give parents a better understanding of what they are undertaking when a child is baptised and will help and equip them in their role of developing the spiritual life of the child.

You are not required to participate in this course if If you have attended a Baptism Preparation Course with us within the last three years.

In order to help towards the costs of providing this course, heating etc. we would ask for a charitable donation of £10.00.

The course generally takes place on the 3rd Saturday of the month and will comprise of two sessions with a break for lunch which will be provided by the Cathedral. The course will take place in the Cathedral House, starting at 12.00noon and finishing at approximately 2.30pm. Both parents are expected to attend the course.
If you would like to make the arrangements to have your child baptised and to attend the Baptism Preparation Course please complete the contact form below and 'submit'.
