Marriage Preparation
Marriage Preparation consists of three parts:
1. Meeting with a member of the Cathedral clergy to prepare the paperwork and to consider the marriage ceremony - what happens and what it all means.
2. FOCCUS: an enjoyable 2-part programme where you take time out from the whirl of your wedding preparations to discover more about each other and your relationship and to build on your dreams for the future. This costs £50 and is run by Scottish Marriage Care whom you will need to get in touch with.
3. The Marriage Preparation Course: This course is for any couple that want to develop foundations for a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime. During the course you will have the opportunity, as a couple, to discuss and explore the following topics with one another. Please be aware that there will be no group discussions and you will not be asked to share the outcome from any exercises you do, other than with your partner. Single people whose prospective marriage partner lives abroad will be invited to form a group for discussion of these topics.
Topic 1: Communication
Topic 2: Commitment
Topic 3: Conflict
Topic 5: Shared goals and values
Topic Teaching of the Church on the rights and obligations of marriage
Unless otherwise stated the course consists of two sessions. The first session takes place on a Friday evening and the second session on the following Saturday, both of which will take place in the Cathedral Main hall at 16 Huntly Street.
