Prior to the baptism of your child you will be required to attend a short course (unless you have attended a course with us within the last two years). It explains the words, symbols, questions and actions that have been passed down to us in this great sacrament from the earliest days of the Church. It will give you a better understanding of what you are undertaking when your child is baptised and will help and equip you to develop your child's spiritual life.
Baptisms are celebrated on Saturdays at 12.30pm.
The course costs £10.00 per person which needs to be paid two weeks in advance.
It generally takes place on the 3rd Saturday of every other month in the Main Hall, starting at 12.00noon and finishing at approximately 3.00pm. It comprises two sessions with a break for lunch which is provided by the Cathedral. Both parents are expected to attend.
If you would like to make the arrangements to have your child baptised (We will require two months notice) please complete the contact form below. You must apply at least 5 days before the course is due to start.
Note that, if you live outwith the Cathedral Parish (catchment area), you will need to request permission from your own parish priest in order to have your child baptised at the Cathedral.
